MINUS / YOUR INFORMATION

Privacy policy.

This policy covers the Minus browser and minusbrowser.com, maintained by David Campbell. For privacy questions or requests, contact hello@hoozter.com.

Your local browser data

Minus stores bookmarks, browsing history, settings, extension inventory, sessions, cookies and other website storage in your local browser profile. Chats and routines also have local state if you use the optional agent features. Minus does not require a Minus account, operate a Minus sync server, or automatically upload your browsing history to the project maintainer.

Websites you visit receive ordinary web requests and information exposed by the browser engine. Extensions can access information covered by the permissions you grant them. Their handling of that information is governed by their own policies.

Private windows

Private windows use an off-the-record browser profile. Extensions are denied private access unless you explicitly allow them. Private browsing is not an anonymity service: websites, network operators and permitted extensions may still observe activity. Files you download remain on your computer.

Optional profile sync

When you enable sync, Minus sends the profiles and data categories you select directly to your chosen storage provider. These can include settings, extension inventory, open tab URLs, bookmarks, site permissions and browsing or download history. Website passwords, cookies, private browsing data and downloaded file contents are excluded from profile transfers.

Manual operations and explicitly enabled automatic sync use the selected provider and categories. Automatic sync runs while Minus is open. Your provider’s policies also apply. Connections use HTTPS; this does not mean remote profile files are end-to-end encrypted. Choose your sync categories accordingly.

How Minus uses Google Drive

Google Drive access is only requested if you choose to connect Google Drive for browser-profile sync. Ordinary browsing does not need a Google connection.

You sign in and approve access through Google. Minus receives authorization tokens, not your Google password. Tokens are stored in your operating system’s credential store and are not included in profile transfers.

Minus requests the drive.file permission. This permission covers files created by the app or specifically made available to it, rather than unrestricted access to your entire Drive. Minus uses it to create, find, read and update its profile-sync folders and files, and to check file revisions so changes are not silently overwritten.

The integration accesses sync-file names, identifiers, folder relationships, revision information and the contents of the profile categories you select. It may create and remove a temporary test file when checking that a connection supports safe updates. It does not request Gmail, Contacts, Calendar or permission to read all of your Drive files.

Google Drive profile data is used to provide the sync you request. It is not sold, used for advertising or profiling, or used to train AI models. The Drive sync integration does not send it to agent/model providers or a Minus-operated server. The project maintainer has no automatic access to your connected Drive or its sync files.

Minus’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

You can stop automatic sync or disconnect Google Drive in Minus’s Sync settings. You can also revoke access through your Google Account’s third-party connections. Disconnecting or revoking access does not delete copies already saved locally or in Drive. To remove remote copies, delete Minus’s sync folders/files in Google Drive and manage its trash as appropriate.

Google Drive setup and provider verification are still being tested during development. Availability in a particular build does not mean that Google has completed verification or endorsed Minus.

Other storage providers

Dropbox and pCloud connections also use the provider’s authorization flow. Their access credentials are stored in the operating system’s credential store. Transfers go directly between your computer and the provider you select. Disconnect the account and revoke its authorization with that provider if you want to stop access; remove remote sync copies separately if you no longer want them retained.

Optional agents and external tools

No AI model is bundled with Minus, and an agent is not required to browse. If you enable an agent connection, messages, attachments, page content and browser-tool results provided through that connection can be sent to your selected agent or model service. Its own privacy, processing and retention policies apply.

Browser access follows the permissions you grant. You can limit access to approved tabs or choose broader access in Agent settings. Private pages, internal browser pages and browser-owned authorization tabs are excluded from the agent’s browser tools. External clients must be paired separately. Review your chosen provider before giving it sensitive information.

Protection lists and third-party services

Ads and tracking protection evaluates public filter lists locally. While protection is enabled, Minus periodically downloads list updates over HTTPS. The filtering system does not send browsing URLs or page DOM information to the list providers. Extensions, external tools and websites you choose to use have independent policies and may make their own network requests.

This website

minusbrowser.com does not add advertising, analytics scripts, tracking pixels or optional cookies. Fonts, images and scripts are served from the site itself. Screenshot-view controls do not store preferences or send interaction events to an analytics service.

The website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes connection and request information such as IP addresses, requested URLs, browser information and timestamps to deliver and protect the site. Cloudflare may use necessary security cookies. Its processing and retention are described in Cloudflare’s privacy policy and cookie documentation. Hosting providers may process information outside your country.

Links to GitHub and other services take you to websites with their own policies. If you email the maintainer or submit an issue, the information you choose to send is processed through the relevant email or issue-hosting service to handle your request. Public issues are public; do not include credentials, private profile exports or sensitive browsing information.

Retention, deletion and your choices

Local browser information remains in your profile until you clear or remove it. Remote profile copies remain with your selected provider until you delete them or its retention rules apply. Authorization can be revoked separately from deleting stored copies. Backups and provider trash may retain additional copies.

You control local profiles, browsing-data deletion, sync categories, connected accounts, extension permissions and agent access. Information you voluntarily send to the maintainer is kept as needed to respond and maintain relevant correspondence. You can contact hello@hoozter.com to request access, correction or deletion of information you have sent to the project, subject to applicable requirements. The maintainer cannot delete data held only on your devices or in your independent provider accounts.

Changes and contact

This page will be updated when Minus’s data handling changes, with the date shown above. A new use of Google user data requires updated disclosure and consent before that use begins.
